Celebrating Empowerment and Advocacy on the International Day of the Girl Child 2023
The ACIOE team was privileged to spend a day with the spirited young women at a public school in Abuja to mark and celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child 2023. Our outreach was not just a celebration, but an educational initiative. Through breakout sessions, these young minds delved into understanding a girl’s rights, honing leadership qualities, and finding their voice to advocate on pressing issues such as academic welfare, combating abuse, and shaping a positive self-image.
The global landscape is shifting. Today, we see a surge in girls’ participation in education. They’re not only attending schools but completing their education, setting the stage for a more knowledgeable and adept future workforce. This is integral to the work ACIOE is doing in the Gender landscape on Women Economic Empowerment working with key stakeholders across the public and private sector in Nigeria.
Leadership is no longer a distant dream. Girls worldwide are venturing into businesses, stepping into politics, and championing social reforms, underlining the birth of an equitable society.
On this pivotal day, we draw inspiration from trailblazers like Gitanjali Rao, Greta Thunberg, and Malala Yousafzai. Their unwavering advocacy for education, climate action, and innovation sets a benchmark for every child.
Let’s come together to celebrate these strides and reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the dreams of every girl, ensuring they realize their boundless potential.
