
Jemimah Jatau
/ Gender TeamJemimah Jatau is a tri-sector specialist with experience leading high-impact initiatives across the private, public, and development sectors. She is an expert in gender policy, adaptive leadership, governance, and program development. Her public sector work includes providing gender technical support to the Nigerian government in mainstreaming gender across the National Integrated Electricity Policy and co-leading the development of an inclusive Adamawa State Government Electricity Policy.
Jemimah is a recognized thought leader in advancing leadership opportunities for women and marginalized communities. As coordinator of USAID Power Africa’s Nigeria Power Sector Program under the Growing Green Jobs Initiative, she supported nearly 1,000 women and youth in developing the skills needed to thrive in Nigeria’s green economy. She has also led national conversations on gender equality and social inclusion, including serving as a consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC WBG) and the Gates Foundation’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) in Nigeria.
In public service, she served as Special Assistant for Intergovernmental Relations to the Governor of Kaduna State (2018-2022), where she led statewide stakeholder engagement strategies, liaising with the National Assembly, federal ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as diasporans and development partners, to support inclusive development planning.
Jemimah holds a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University, where she was an Edward S. Mason Fellow and a Women in Public Policy Program affiliate. She also holds a Master of Science in Development Sociology from the University of Abuja, and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University.
Passionate about values-based leadership and youth empowerment, Jemimah actively coaches public servants and mentors young people in career readiness, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the Eric Yankah Award for service to the Harvard Kennedy School, the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship Best Graduating Fellow – Gold Category, and recognition as one of the Top 100 Career Women in Africa (2023).
Jemimah is a gender advisor at ACIOE Associates Ltd, where she directs gender initiatives on women’s economic empowerment across Nigeria.
